Hunter started High School this year. Where we live, High School officially starts in 10th grade. Hunter isn’t excited school is starting, but it will still be a great year for him.

Kenzie started first grade this year. She was so excited to start school. In fact, she started school a day later than everyone else. I misunderstood when the first day was supposed to be so the night before she laid in bed crying because she wanted to start school like everyone else. Her teacher’s name is Mrs. Tyckson.

It was located at the Equestrian Center right by our house so we thought this would be a fun race for the whole family to enjoy. We originally signed Kenzie and Skylar up to do the Mini Monkey race, which would have only been a mile and only included a few obstacles. You were technically supposed to be 7 to do the bigger race, but we figured the little ones would do the race just fine. As it turned out, our 6 year old did better in this race than our 7 year old. Kenzie was so excited to do the race and was such a trooper as she ran a good portion of it and did the obstacles she could. It was such a fun time and super dirty!

The next obstacle was flipping a tire forward once and then back again. It was very heavy so we had to do it in groups so the little ones could help too.

Mud! I escaped being super muddy after the first pit. I walked very cautiously and somehow made it across without slipping. I wasn’t so fortunate at the second pit.

Although Mylie looks mad or sad, she enjoyed the mud too. She had the GoPro on her head so she could get video of the obstacles. After the mud pit the screen was so muddy we couldn’t get any more video of the race. It’s okay because it was worth it.
In this picture Skylar is in the process of saying “No”. She really didn’t want her picture taken. She had fun the first time she slipped in the mud pit, but after the third time she had claimed herself officially done.

At the beginning of the race Hunter told us that he wanted to win the race. So, he didn’t stay with us. Instead he ran the whole race and then met us towards the end and claimed he won first place. I thought it was funny because I didn’t think anyone was checking times. I asked him how he know he got first place and he said once he passed the finish line he asked the other people what heat they left at. Everyone said 1:30. We left with the 1:45 heat....and so that was how Hunter determined he won first place.

Through this whole race everyone sort of helped each other. At one point Kelly literally pushed me up this same 6 foot wall that Hunter is trying to help Skylar over. If he hadn’t pushed my booty up this wall I would have walked around. I did love how everyone helped each other out. Made this mama’s heart proud.

As I said above, Skylar was done with the race after the mud pit. We all tried rallying her, but Kelly had to carry her a bit of the way.

This trip was the last full weekend before the kids started school. It was a fun trip. We again, rented a boat up at Lake Mead and we all enjoyed the water. One scary thing that happened on this trip was Kora actually got lost on the Las Vegas strip. It was a terrifying few minutes when we realized she was not with us. Kelly ran back searching for her, while I stayed with the other 3 kids and my mom. It turns out she got distracted at the Madame Tousads wax figure museum. When we all walked past, she stayed to look. Thankfully one of the workers noticed she was alone and kept her until we found her. It was a scary experience. We were definitely blessed that she got lost there rather than on the street. I think our Heavenly Father was definitely watching over her. Overall, it was a fun trip, with an interesting memory to go with it. We're just so glad that she was fine and safe.
The kids at Buffalo Bills, riding the rides. There aren't many rides at Buffalo Bills, but the kids had a great time. The only 2 rides the kids could really go on was this jumper ride and the laser shooter log ride. Hunter and Kora went on the Log ride multiple times. Mylie went on about 2 times, and then stayed on the jumper the rest of the time. She probably went on it somewhere around 20 times, enjoying each time up as if it was her first.

Hunter was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints On July 7, 2012 days after his 8th birthday. It was a beautiful day. His Dad baptized him and his Uncle Bryan gave a talk on Baptism. Both did an amazing job. Hunter said the water was warm and he felt like he was clean. He was also so glad that so much of his family could be there for his very special day.

Kelly's Grandpa passed away on June 19, 2012. He was a kind, loving man. He loved his family. He would often be found talking about his 12 great-grandchildren. We have lots of cherished memories of him. The above picture was the last full family picture that we have with him. This is from when he came to our house this last Easter. One thing that I will always remember about him is that he was always there. He came to every special event. The next few pictures are a few memories we captured that show his love for his family. He was a very special man and we are so grateful to have had him in our lives.
Our niece, Kailee, was baptized down here. We felt blessed to be able to share this day. Because they are from Utah, we wouldn't have been able to go otherwise. Kelly conducted the meeting, Kelly's brother, Bryan gave a wonderful talk about Baptism and Kailee's Daddy, Gus baptized her in the same font that her Mom, and her aunts and uncles were all baptized in. It was a beautiful and special day.
Our niece, Kailee's birthday is June 15th and being from Utah, where there are no beaches, she chose to celebrate her birthday at the beach. So, despite weather predictions of 66 degrees, we went to the beach to celebrate with her. Freezing doesn't even begin to describe how cold it was. Even though it was cold and windy, some of the kids still went in the water and played, while us adults stayed huddled in our swimsuits and sweaters. Our plan was to have a bonfire at the beach but as the day progressed we realized that we wouldn't be able to stay until it got dark. We ended up leaving and Nani Susie ended up getting a fire pit and we had our little bonfire at Nani's house and roasted smores. It was a fun day and we were so glad to celebrate Kailee's birthday with her. Kelly and I live close to Scandia and we have never done more than miniature golfing there. One of the reunion activities was to go there and ride the rides and miniature golf. In the above picture the kids are posing at the golf course as we wait for an extremely slow family of 5 as they take 10-15 minutes at each hole. Regardless, the kids had a great time golfing.
I don't know how I got such a good picture of the roller coaster. It's a good one because we know every single person in every car. This roller coaster may be smaller than many other roller coasters I have ridden, but it's certainly a good one. It's fast, it's rough and it's bumpy. Everything great about roller coasters.
Hunter, Mason and Preston. Hunter is not a thrill seeker. It was only by pure luck of being short that he was able to save face when the rest of the family went on the roller coaster and bigger rides. This ride that the picture was taken on was the one ride that was Hunter's favorite. Him and Mason went on it numerous times. I would even venture to say he went on it at least 15 times. It was especially funny to see that him and Mason would often be seen sitting next to random girls who didn't have anyone else sitting with them. There was a big group of kids that came to the park for a field trip and Hunter and Mason decided to sit with different girls when they rode instead of sitting with each other. When I asked him why he was sitting next to strangers, his reply, "They were by themselves." I'm not sure if I think this is extremely sweet or if I should worry. Regardless, it is cute.
The following posts will be part of a few ongoing posts that relate to the same things, a Kerr Family Reunion. Kelly's Dad retired and because of this retirement ALL of Kelly's siblings and their families came out to celebrate. We had a fun time spending so much time together with family we rarely see. Sadly, at this same time Kelly's Grandpa got sick and ended up passing away while everyone was down. I think it was a blessing to be able to have everyone down.

While everyone was down, Hunter had his Championship baseball games. His team ended up losing both games but it was fun to have the support of his cousins and family.
Kelly found out that one of the Angel game giveaways was going to be an Angel's Cowboy hat. Once he found that out, we got tickets and went. The kids loved the hats. We were even part of a Guinness book of world records event that night of largest group of people wearing cowboy hats at one time. My parents went with us and we just had a really good time. Can't beat a good Angel's game!
Kelly looked up restaurants online and found a waffle house. They have amazing waffles. We had breakfast there but they even had savory waffles which we'll have to try sometime. After breakfast, the kids enjoyed watching the ducks, boats launching and people fishing in the lake. One thing I loved about Lake Arrowhead was that they had a little park as well as a few rides for the kids to ride. We didn't do that, but it was nice to know if we ever go again.

There were lots of shops and we spent time doing a little window shopping. We even stopped in a candy store and got the kids some candy sticks, which they are showing us in this picture.

After shopping we decided to do a little bowling at a place up there. It was empty at the time we went, which it is always nice to have the place to ourselves. Also, not only did they have the bumpers but they also had a metal rack that you put your ball on to help it roll down the lane at a good speed. The kids loved it. Mylie's picture was hard to take because every time she rolled the ball she would start jumping up and down in excitement. We had so much fun that we'll definitely have to go up again.
This year Hunter was on Farm. It is one level higher than T-Ball. This means that kids actually pitch instead of coaches pitching to the kids or hitting off of the T. Although, if the boys pitch 4 balls then the coach gets to pitch the remaining strikes. This replaces walks. There are no walks allowed at this level.

There are 3 other boys from our ward that were in this league and one of the fathers decided to coach and draft all of the boys onto the same team. The team did really well and ended up getting 2nd place out of I think 8 teams. It was fun being on the same team as other boys in the ward. Hunter's team was the Blue Jays.
Hunter has always loved baseball and this year has really increased that love. He watches the Angel games with his Dad on television and even sat and watched an entire game all by himself while Kelly was at work. Hunter has always loved playing baseball in the front with Kelly, but now, it's all he wants to do. The moment Kelly walks through the door he asks to play baseball. Hunter recently told me that after his mission he wants to play College Baseball and then wants to try to play in the Majors. I told him it will take lots of practicing and listening to coaches and Dad. Who knows, maybe you'll see Hunter Kerr on a pro jersey someday?
Kerr Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02696278533757432723noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847492787694571658.post-58385623433323578402012-07-30T08:00:00.000-07:002012-07-30T08:00:07.553-07:00Skylar 5 Months - May 2012

I attempted to take Skylar's pictures again for her 5 month picture. I was a little disappointed at the way they came out. I have a few good ones. I can definitely see the need for a photographer AND a mom. One person to set up and snap the shot and the other person to keep the baby in the position and make her smile. It's hard to keep babies still.

Easter was pretty quiet this year, which it seems to be every year for us. Kelly's parents were out of town so Kelly's grandpa came out early in the morning and went to church with us, then stayed for dinner. My parents and my Uncle Dwight, whom I didn't seem to get a picture of came for dinner as well. Kelly's mom made the girl's Easter dresses this year. I love the different colors, it seems very festive and fun to me.

Of course, Easter wouldn't be Easter without coloring eggs. Kora chose to do pink first because it was her favorite color.

Here's Hunter dying his eggs. This is the first year he had patience and let his eggs sit in the dye long enough to get a dark tint...and make egg dying last longer.

Mylie chose her 3 favorite colors and dyed pretty much all of her eggs these 3 colors. Mylie LOVES the color yellow, but also loves colors that can be made from yellow, such as green and orange.
Skylar had a very large blow out. Unsure of where to put her while we got things ready to shower her, I put her in the sink. I put a towel under her head to keep her from getting hurt. She didn't seem to mind being in there at all. She even smiled slightly for the camera.
In March, my parents decided to take our family and my brother Jeremy's family to John's Incredible Pizza. We love John's. It's like Chuck E. Cheeses but caters more for adults as well as has a yummy pizza buffet. They also have rides. The kids had a great time.

John's also has a play area for smaller kids. Mylie enjoyed the games and rides that they had but soon got bored. She soon joined her cousin Luke at the Kids play area for the rest of the night.
Kerr Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02696278533757432723noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1847492787694571658.post-61448208049201089692012-05-30T08:00:00.000-07:002012-05-30T08:00:01.413-07:00Valentines Day

Valentines day really isn't a huge day for our family. The most I ever do is a Valentines day Breakfast. So, here the kids are about to enjoy their pink heart pancakes. Hunter and Kora were so excited for their Valentines Parties in their classes. This year the kids passed out Krispy Kreme valentines, which allowed the recipient a free glazed donut. You have to applaud Krispy Kreme for that wonderful give away. The kids made sure they each got a valentine so they too could each get a free donut. After school we went and got our free donuts. We blessed Skylar on Sunday, Feruary 5th. Her Daddy gave her such a sweet little blessing. We were fortunate to be able to share the day with many family members. We took pictures of the day but unfortunately it was so sunny that we decided to stand in the shade. The result was shadows in everyone faces. Regardless, it's a documentation of the day.
Her first favorite is the color yellow. She adores anything yellow. Her second favorite is Tinker Belle. Anything with Tinkerbell on it is her favorite. I am not exactly sure which one has more priority over the other but naturally, for her birthday cake it would have to have yellow frosting, I made yellow cupcakes for our at home party. She really wanted a Tinker Belle cake but I was afraid it would look like a hideous face instead so I went the easy way out and made a flower and put a Tinker Belle doll on top. She was happy with it. Our Mylie girl is a fun loving, happy, smiley girl. She is very opinionated and pretty demanding for such a little thing. She used to be the youngest of 3 and is now the middle child. After being the baby for almost 4 long years she has become used to holding her own against her siblings. We love having her in our family and love watching her little personality grow and develop. She loves to sing and play and smile. We love our Mylie Girl, who turned 4 on February 2nd.
Here are some of the pictures. Only Mylie was home with me when I took these so I only have a picture with her and Mylie.
I realize this isn't such a great picture but I never realized how hard it is to take a picture of a missing tooth. Kora lost her first tooth in December, shortly after Christmas. One funny thing about this is just the day before, we were with family and her little cousin who is 7 months older than Kora lost his first tooth while eating breakfast. Who would have guessed that Kora too would lose her first tooth just one day later.
